My new work, Music for "Deliciously Happy!" will be presented at the opening reception, March 1st, Leu Art Gallery, Nashville, Tennessee. All my piece will be playing out of the hand-crafted vending machine! What a wonderful collaboration with Lindsey Bailey!

I met Lindsey Bailey in 2010 when she was looking for a collaborator for her project called PLAY as her final work at the Maryland Institute College of Art. As my first collaborational project, PLAY instantly aroused my interest because art has been an inspiring resource for my music and I've been searching for a way to introduce contemporary music to people in a way that is easy and fun. Based on Bailey's PLAY project, I made a compositional sketch. The goal of this project was to let the art and music involve people and lead them to be a part of the exhibition through performance, installation and anything having to do with the place where it happens.
In October 2011, I started my second project with Bailey, called "Octopus Lament." This was performed in "Sideshow Fringe": Nashville's progressive performing arts event. In this work, for the expression of various aspects of feelings and an easy approach to contemporary music, I tried to combine and manipulate diverse sound resources, such as live performance recordings, sounds recorded from the real world, natural sound effects and electronic sound. This was a quite successful fruition of my collaboration with Bailey, so we started to our third project, "Deliciously Happy!" As I composed music for the "Deliciously Happy!" project's opening reception, I kept in mind Bailey's purposes, such as the involvement of children and local people, the expression of fun and festivity, and the illustration of various images of life.
The Music for "Deliciously Happy!" consists of four pieces.
As an intro, the first piece, "Deliciously, Yum!" is a work aimed for the cheerful, fun mood of a festival and reflects diverse images of life.
The second piece, "Deliciously, Play the March!" is based on the communications between Bailey and myself from the working process of the PLAY project. This work reflects various aspects of human life as Bailey mentioned: "power, space, touch, inclusion, exclusion, fantasy and play". Additionally, this work draws on inspiration we shared such as the soundtracks from "Le Fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain", "Chocolat" and "Coraline".
The third piece, "Deliciously, Lament but Sweet!" is the original version of "Octopus Lament." In this piece, I composed to express the agony of creating art and the dark and mysterious sides of life as well as the beautiful side.
The last piece, "Deliciously, Nashville!" is music for everybody involved in this project and the place where it happens. It is a sort of homage to local people, the city of Nashville and all the other things surrounding our daily life.
